| UPDATES |
Todd never missed a single day of school from his first day of kindergarten to his high school graduation on June 6, 2003. He was featured on the Channel 5 News in Salt Lake City on June 5 for perfect attendance. Todd was the school mascot for a year at Valley Junior High School in West Valley City, Utah. He also played for three years on the Granger High School football team. Todd was active in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Todd began experiencing double vision in late September. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor on September 26, 2003. This is a very rare type of cancer. It is called a non-seminoma germinoma mixed pineal tumor. Todd had seven hours of brain surgery on October 6 and five days of chemotherapy from October 20-24. Todd lost weight during his first round of chemotherapy and got down to 158 lbs, he is normally 178. During the two weeks he was at home we got his weight back to 172 lbs (by November 9). Todd was admitted into LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City on November 10, again on December 1 and for the last time on December 22; he had five days of chemotherapy each time. Todd began losing his hair on his birthday Nov. 7 and shaved his head November 9 after church. Todd had NO side effects to chemotherapy other than losing his hair. We believe this is due to his daily consumption of Reliv since October. As of December 1, 2003 Todd's tumor was reduced by 50%. His HCG level remained undetectable. Todd had another MRI and further testing on January 12. This MRI showed that the tumor was reduced by half. On April 5, 2004 the MRI showed that the tumor had been reduced to about the size of a split pea. The radiologist thinks that only scar tissue remains and Todd will have another MRI on June 17, 2004 to evaluate it again. Todd's diet between chemotherapy sessions contained no sugar or refined carbs, he has 3 Tbs. unrefined flax oil each day, Fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken and fish. |
| UPDATES 12/9/2003 Todd came out of the hospital following his third round of chemotherapy on Saturday December 6, 2003. His MRI taken December 1, 2003 showed the tumor remaining after surgery has diminished by 50%. His blood showed no HCG (a tumor marker produced by this type of tumor) remaining in his blood. Todd's vision has continued to improve and he can now focus with both eyes for short periods of time. 2/26/2004 Todd finished chemotherapy on 12/27/2004. On January 12 he had an MRI which showed that the tumor had shrunk to about 1/27th the size it had been when discovered. He has been receiving radiation treatments since February 2nd. His vision continues to improve and he has regained eye movements which had been impossible for months. He is looking very healthy and feels really good. He takes two detoxing baths everyday and has been using Reliv since early October. He uses 3 shakes a day of Classic and Innergize. We feel that Reliv has contributed greatly to his recovery. a 4/14/2004 Todd has finished all chemo and radiation and has had a follow up MRI on 4/5/2004. He has had follow up exams with his neurosurgeon, the treatment co-ordinator and his radiologist. The image of the tumor shows as 4mm x 5mm x 7mm. Before surgery it was 350mm x 300mm x 350mm. This is like the difference of an egg to a split pea. He will have another MRI on June 17, 2004. But his radiologist believes the tumor is dead and only scar tissue remains. Todd is still totally bald and his sense of taste has not returned yet. His vision is almost totally restored with only a slight bit of double vision when looking to the right. a 4/25/2004 Yesterday Todd's scalp looked darker as if the roots of his hair were developing again. Today there is definitely some hair beginning to grow!!! Todd continues to drink Reliv and makes his shakes himself because he recognizes their importance. There are still outstanding medical bills that we are struggling to pay off. Any help would be appreciated. 6/17/2004 Yesterday Todd had another eye exam and an MRI. His eye doctor, Dr. Judith Warner at the Moran Eye Center said the improvement in his vision was, "fantastic and his eye emovements are much improved." The MRI shows great improvement over the last one and the tumor is almost imperceptible. Todd has a donation account at Zions Bank. You can Contact Zions Bank. The account is under the name Todd A Scripter Donation Account. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There are still about $650.00 of bills left to go. Todd's Grandmother died June 17, 2004 two days after suffering a massive stroke. The same day as Todd's last MRI. Click below or copy and paste to email Todd toddscripter@safe-mail.net |
